Starting as a teacher in Sheffield multi ethnic secondary schools for 12 years, Emma became a policy and equalities manager in the public sector (SCC Womens Unit, Community Safety Unit and Drug Action Team). In the final 15 years of her paid career, she was a freelance consultant working nationally and locally with public and voluntary sector organisations in the fields of equity and inclusion. She is a lifelong activist fighting for social justice through the labour, women’sand anti-racist movements. She spent 10 years as Chair of SWWOP who support women in the street sex industry and has been co-Chair of South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group (SYMAAG) since 2022.
